Children's privacy

How ZUNBIX handles children's information. Last reviewed 27 October 2026.

This notice describes ZUNBIX as it is built today. Before Zunbix is opened to the public, the owner of Zunbix should have it reviewed against COPPA (and the UK Age Appropriate Design Code, if the site is offered in the UK), including whether a grown-up's account sign-up counts as verifiable parental consent for the account saving described below.

What a child profile holds

A Zunbix profile is made by a grown-up and holds only:

  • a nickname the grown-up types in (a first name or anything else they choose);
  • a buddy — which of the ten cartoon characters they picked;
  • a grade, Kindergarten through Grade 5;
  • learning progress: which skills have been practised, how many questions were answered and how many were right, the level each skill is at, XP, coins, stars, which rewards are unlocked, which stories have been read, game scores, daily missions and the learning streak.

That is the whole record. Zunbix asks for no email address, surname, birthday, school, address, phone number, photograph or voice recording, and children do not have accounts of their own to sign in to.

What is not in the children's area

  • No advertising. No ad network, ad script or sponsored content is loaded on any Zunbix page.
  • No chat and no messaging. Zunbix has none, and nothing a child types is shown to anybody else.
  • No public leaderboards. Scores, levels and collections are visible to that child and their grown-up only. Zunbix has no leaderboard of any kind.
  • No links out. A Zunbix page links only to other pages on this site, plus the email address at the bottom of this notice.
  • No purchases. Coins are earned by answering questions. Nothing in Zunbix can be bought with money, and there is no gambling, loot box or random reward.
  • No behavioural profiling. The only thing Zunbix works out about a child is which school skills they have and have not mastered, and it uses that to choose the next question.

Where the records are kept, and who can read them

In the browser on that device, unless a grown-up signs in. A profile and its progress are held in the browser (under the keys zunbix.v1 and zunbix.settings.v1). Anyone using that browser can open the profiles on it, and clearing the browser's site data deletes that copy.

In the grown-up's account, once they sign in. A grown-up can sign in on the grown-ups page so the profiles follow them to other devices. From then on the profiles in that browser and their progress are also saved to that account. Only that account can read them: the database refuses every other account and every signed-out visitor. The accounts and the database are run for Zunbix by Lovable Cloud.

The account belongs to the grown-up and holds their email address and, if they chose one, a password, which the sign-in service keeps only in scrambled (hashed) form. Signing in with Google or Apple passes Zunbix the email address shown on that screen. Children never sign in and have no accounts.

The site's hosting may add a basic visit counter and error reporting to every page. That is page-level and is not tied to a child profile.

Read-aloud and sound

Read-aloud uses the voice already built into the browser or device. The text of a question or story is handed to that voice locally; Zunbix makes no recording, never asks for the microphone, and no audio leaves the device.

Some devices have no working voice of their own. There, Zunbix reads with its own voice instead: the first time, the browser downloads it once (about 95 MB) from Hugging Face, an open library of AI models, and its speech engine from jsDelivr, a public code library. After that it runs on the device. Either way the text is read on the device and is never sent anywhere.

Sound effects and background music are recordings made in advance with an AI music tool, and the mascots' cheers (Zee, Luna, Nix and Bolt) were recorded in advance with an AI voice tool. They load from this site the first time they play, like a picture does; playing them sends nothing about a child anywhere, and nothing a child says or types is ever recorded. Music, sound effects and mascot voices each have an off switch in the Sound & Reading Help panel.

Every spoken thing is also full text on screen, so the area works with the sound off.

Pictures painted and beats made in Creative Kingdom are saved only in this browser, under the child's player. They are never sent anywhere, not even to a grown-up's account, and clearing the browser's site data removes them. The music in Creative Kingdom is made by the browser itself as it plays; nothing is recorded.

Seeing, changing and deleting a child's records

A grown-up can see everything Zunbix holds about a child on the grown-ups page, change the nickname, buddy and grade there, and delete a profile outright from the player menu. Deleting a profile removes it and its progress from this browser and, when the grown-up is signed in, from their account too.

To close an account and delete everything in it, or for any question about this notice, email contact@zunbix.com.
